Rene J. Areaux, F.A.C.H.E., Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Rene J. Areaux, FACHE, serves as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Springhill Medical Center. His responsibilities include oversight of an employed internal medicine group and cardiovascular surgical group.
He joined the Springhill team as Vice President / Chief Operating Officer in 2009. Rene has led significant change driving operational and clinical excellence across the organization with use of automation and predictive analytics.
Prior to his tenure at Springhill Medical Center, Rene had a track record in turnaround operations and high-performing team leadership. He was responsible for multiple clinical, support, and financial areas including a Distinct Rehab Unit, Cath-Neuro-Vascular Labs, Cardiology, Pharmacy, Lab, Radiology, Respiratory, Sleep Center, Physical Therapy, Radiation Oncology, Wound Care & Hyperbarics, Clinical Engineering, Food & Nutrition, Health Information Management, and Decision Support.
Originally from New Orleans, Rene received a bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care from St. Mary’s Dominican College and master’s degree in Health Administration from Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
