Rene J. Areaux, F.A.C.H.E., Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Rene J. Areaux, FACHE, is Vice President / Chief Operating Officer at Springhill Medical Center. He assumed the position in 2009 following the promotion of Mr. Jeff St. Clair to President /CEO of the 263-bed hospital.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He earned his Master’s Degree in Health Administration in 1997 from Tulane University. His bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s Dominican College is in Respiratory Care.
For more than a decade, Mr. Areaux has been responsible for multiple clinical and administrative departments in healthcare settings, including medical records, decision support, imaging, biomed, lab, catheterization lab, cardiology, sleep center, radiation therapy, hyperbaric and wound care center, rehabilitation, and dietary.
He has extensive experience facilitating strong professional relations with physicians and patients, particularly pre- and post-Hurricane Katrina’s trail of destruction in Louisiana. In addition, he maintains high standards for meeting technical healthcare compliance issues, as well as improving productivity efficiencies through the implementation of new technology and improved contracts.
Mr. Areaux’s affiliations include the Louisiana Regent’s Advisory Council, American College of Healthcare Executives; the Southeast Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives, of which he is a past president; and The New Orleans Regional Chamber of Commerce. He is also a Registered Respiratory Therapist with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
