PET Scanner

Located on the Springhill Medical Center campus (next to the Gerald L. Wallace Annex Building), Mobile Molecular Imaging is proud to be the only facility on the Gulf Coast with the advanced Discovery MI PET/CT scanner, featuring breakthrough digital technology. This cutting-edge PET/CT scanner enhances our ability to detect smaller lesions, ultimately helping to lower treatment costs. Once cancer is diagnosed, the Discovery MI PET/CT scanner provides precise assessments of treatment response and guides crucial treatment decisions.

The Discovery MI provides referring physicians with more sensitivity, speed, resolution and diagnostic confidence when treating cancer patients. By shortening the scan times, the patient will experience less time on the scanning table. "Less time on the table means faster results and greater patient comfort," said radiologist Allen Oaks, M.D. "The new Discovery MI allows us to not only 'see' the disease, but to begin to treat it."

The PET/CT scan combines the benefits of both the traditional PET and CT scanners, allowing doctors to see the internal structures of the human body, view metabolic activity within those structures, and pinpoint where abnormal lesions are located so that they may target the disease.
