Springhill Medical Center recognized Brandy Hubbs, BSN, RN, as 2025 Nurse of the Year during Nurses Week in May!
Brandy began her career at Springhill and has been a valued nurse here for eight years. Prior to working as a special procedure nurse and IV specialist in Radiology, Brandy worked on SMC’s post-surgical and urology unit and as a charge nurse. Her commitment to her profession, her patients, and her colleagues exemplifies the very spirit of nursing and the core values of Springhill Medical Center.
“I feel honored that I have been recognized,” Hubbs said. “For me, nursing is about providing compassionate care to all of my patients. I want them to feel as if they are family and ensure their families are comfortable with the care we’re providing.”
Chief Nursing Executive Mr. Paul Read said, “We’re blessed to have a nurse like Brandy at Springhill. She’s loyal to the hospital and extremely dedicated to her patients and to the profession of nursing.”
According to her nomination: “Brandy consistently goes above and beyond in everything she does. She approaches each day with a positive attitude, uplifting everyone around her. Her ability to relate to and comfort patients — often during vulnerable and anxious moments — is extraordinary. She doesn’t just perform her duties; she takes the time to truly listen to each patient's story, offering not only skilled care but heartfelt compassion. Her empathy and genuine kindness turn clinical interactions into moments of human connection.”
“Brandy’s dedication extends beyond her patients. She is a phenomenal team player who constantly checks on her coworkers, making sure they feel supported and appreciated. Never one to complain, she is always the first to volunteer for departmental projects or lend a helping hand where needed. Her presence is a source of motivation. She is a model of professionalism and treats everyone with respect.”
“In addition to her exemplary healthcare service, Brandy is also a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, bringing a sense of discipline and honor that further elevate her as a nurse and leader.”
“In every way, Brandy embodies the heart of nursing and the values we hold dear. Her commitment to excellence, her selfless spirit, and her unwavering dedication to both her patients and peers make her extremely deserving of the Nurse of the Year recognition.”
