Mobile County student artwork was celebrated in early May during a special reception honoring the winners of the Color By Kids Art Competition.
This year’s 39th Annual Color By Kids Art Competition explored art submissions from grades K-12 in the local area. Springhill Medical Center and the SMH Auxiliary honor winners from Mobile County public and private schools, along with their art teachers and school faculty, during a formal reception at the Mobile Museum of Art.
The organization worked with three accomplished local artists who judged the 150+ art entries in the four grade categories. All winners received certificates, gift cards for art supplies, and checks for their individual schools to support their art programs. The first-place winners in each category also received plaques for their schools to display in trophy cases.
The Color By Kids Art Competition serves dual purposes. It promotes children’s art in Mobile County and supports the hospital’s mission to be the best community-centered health care provider in the area.
Winning artwork has been professionally framed and is on exhibit this summer at the Mobile Museum of Art. It travels to the Exploreum after that to be displayed there through May 2026. Springhill will prominently display the work in the main lobby for a year to be enjoyed every day by patients, visitors, and staff members until next year’s Competition. Winning artwork from prior years remains on display throughout the hospital as part of SMC’s permanent collection.
